BIOGEN ARTHRO GEN for adults to assist with the management and relief of osteoarthritis symptoms such as pain and difficulty when moving. Contains avocado-soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) and vitamin E. ASU is a source of essential fatty acids and assists with the management and relief of osteoarthritis symptoms. Avocado-soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and joint health effects. Avocado-soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) have demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects in various cell types, reducing the production of inflammatory cytokines as well as inflammatory mediators and enzymes such as prostaglandin E2 and metalloproteinase in chondrocytes. Avocado-soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) have been shown to reduce oxidised low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, suggesting some antioxidant effects.

The major function of vitamin E is probably that of a chain-breaking antioxidant that prevents the formation of free radicals, and its therapeutic benefits have primarily been attributed to its antioxidant effects. Vitamin E is mostly absorbed in the small intestines by passive diffusion and is excreted mainly unchanged via the faeces.
