What is Chia Fresca?

Chia fresca is a traditional drink from Mexico and Central America, traditionally made with chia seeds, water, and lime or lemon juice. It’s known for its hydrating and energising properties. This recipe adds a scoop of Cytogen Race Mix for an extra nutritional kick.

Why We Love This Recipe:
  • Quick and Easy: Seriously, it takes less than a minute to make! Perfect for busy mornings or when you need a quick energy boost.
  • Hydrating: Chia seeds absorb water, creating a gel-like consistency that helps you stay hydrated during your workout.
  • Sustained Energy: The combination of chia seeds and Cytogen provides a steady release of energy, preventing that mid-workout crash.
  • Nutrient-Packed: Chia seeds are loaded with fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Cytogen adds its own unique blend of nutrients (check your Cytogen product for its specific benefits!).
  • Customisable: You can easily adjust the sweetness or add other flavors to this recipe.

Cytogen Chia Fresca Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1 scoop Cytogen (flavour of your choice!)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • Filtered water (amount depends on your preference – about 230-300ml recommended)
Method:
  1. Combine Ingredients: In a glass or shaker bottle, add the Cytogen, chia seeds, and filtered water.
  2. Mix Well: This is key! Make sure you mix the ingredients thoroughly to prevent the chia seeds from clumping together. You can use a spoon, whisk, or shake the bottle vigorously. Let it sit for a minute or two to allow the chia seeds to start to gel.
  3. Enjoy! Drink your Cytogen Chia Fresca about 15-30 minutes before your workout to fuel your body and stay hydrated.
Tips & Variations:
  • Prevent Clumping: The key to a good chia fresca is preventing the chia seeds from clumping. Mixing thoroughly and letting it sit for a short time helps. If you find clumps, you can try using a whisk to break them up.
  • Adjust Sweetness: If your Cytogen isn’t sweet enough, you can add a touch of honey, maple syrup, or stevia.
  • Flavour Boost: Get creative with flavors! Add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice, a few berries, or even a dash of cinnamon.
  • Make it Ahead: You can prepare this chia fresca ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Just give it a good stir before drinking.
  • Experiment with Cytogen: Different Cytogen products may have varying mixing instructions, so be sure to check the label for specific recommendations.
