Biogen Platinum range fully recyclable packaging: a new look with a bigger impact on sustainability.
The extensive Biogen Platinum range has a stunning new look and feel following a rebrand that blends form with function, as the updated products now come in fully recyclable packaging.
The comprehensive Platinum range, which includes vitamins, minerals, herbal and anti-ageing products to support a healthier lifestyle, have been available in fully-recyclable Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic containers for many years.
The PET Process
PET plastic is a type of thermoplastic polymer resin commonly used for packaging, particularly for bottles and containers. As a fully recyclable plastic, meaning PET containers can be processed into new products after their initial use.
This recycling process involves several steps. Once collected, separated, and cleaned, PET plastic is shredded into small flakes. Another washing cycle removes any remaining impurities. The washed PET flakes are then melted down into a molten state and reprocessed into new PET products.
Making recycling easier
Now, Biogen is taking further meaningful steps to have an even bigger positive impact on the environment, bolstering its approach with new labels and adhesive to ensure all packaging components are fully recyclable from top to bottom.
The new and now fully recyclable labels mean they can remain on the containers when they are recycled, with only the lids removed, as these need to be recycled separately.
Furthermore, Biogen will trial drop-off points at 10 Dis-Chem stores across Gauteng later this year to facilitate recycling.
Customers can drop off empty containers as part of the trial aimed at streamlining the process. The goal is to scale to more stores soon thereafter.
Look out for the updated Biogen Platinum range, with various products available online at www.biogen.co.za, www.dischem.co.za and Dis-Chem stores nationwide.
