Issued on behalf of the Multiply Titans

After a successful launch of the Sky Blues Trust, the new initiative was handed a massive boost by one of South African cricket’s favourite sons.

The Sky Blues Trust has been set up to change the lives of those less fortunate, assisting with education, empowering women, as well as youth and differently abled players in the Sky Blues family.

The Trust has been given a massive shot in the arm by former Proteas star AB de Villiers, who has kindly donated 5000 copies of his best-selling autobiography towards proceeds for the Trust.

The books will go to different organisations for auctions, and all proceeds will go into the Trust.

“All the opportunities that I had as a young player growing up were down to sacrifices from people around me,” De Villiers explained.

“So, for me, it is one of the greatest joys to be able up give back in any way, and try to inspire the next generation of South Africans to be all they can be – on or off the field,” De Villiers added.

The autobiography of one of the most dazzling talents the game has ever seen is a coveted piece of memorabilia, as it charts De Villiers’ journey to the very top of the world game.

“This wonderful game of cricket is the best in the world. It has provided me so many memories, and the Titans have played a fundamental part in my journey. If I can help the journey of any young player, then I will be a happy man,” De Villiers concluded.

The Trust welcomed the generosity of De Villiers, as it was exactly in line with what the trust stands for.

“We are trying to change the lives of as many South Africans as we can. AB is one of the greatest sportsmen this country had ever produced, so to have his support in this manner is just fantastic,” Northerns Cricket Union President Tebogo Siko said.
